A home sleep test can only be administered after a written order has been received by a patient’s treating physician. To find out if you may have sleep apnea, you will have to take a sleep questionnaire, then make an appointment with your physician, and bring the completed questionnaire and SuperCare’s Physician’s Prescription form to your physician.
Once your physician has submitted the order form to SuperCare, we will review it and enter it into our system for scheduling. A customer care representative will contact you shortly after to verify your insurance information, delivery address, etc. and schedule a delivery to your home.
SuperCare will ship the device to you using UPS to ensure fast and safe delivery. Within the UPS package will be a prepaid USPS box where the device and its accessories will be in. Please retain the UPSP box and all its contents as this is how you will be returning the package back to SuperCare.
The following should be within the UPS box:
SuperCare will have already pre-programmed and pre-connected the ApneaLink for use prior to shipping it out to you. Take the test the same day that you receive the ApneaLink. It is very important that you get a good night sleep while taking the test, so do not take any naps the day of the test. Also, limit your caffeine and alcohol intake, as these can contribute to a disruptive sleep, which can negatively impact the test results. Other negative factors include nighttime distractions, such as sleeping with your pet and uncomfortable room temperatures. Continue to take any and all prescribed medication as you usually would unless otherwise requested by your physician. Follow your regular daily routine and go to bed as you normally would. Stay in bed for at least 6 hours, but no more than 10 hours. We’re assuming that as long as the device is on, you are sleeping. Once you have started the test, do not take the airflow sensor off until you wake up in the morning.
The following morning, make certain that you have packed the following items into the prepaid USPS box that was included with the ApneaLink:
Do not ever take out the batteries from the ApneaLink as all information will be erased.
Do not forget to turn ApneaLink off in the morning so as not to run the batteries dead.
After all required contents have been packed into the USPS box, seal the box and either take to your local post office or call USPS for a scheduled pick up at no cost to you.
After SuperCare has received the returned package, we will immediately process the data and have it assessed by a physician. Your physician will be faxed the results as soon as we have them. It will be your physician who you can contact for the results.
